Advertising a skill or service

If you are offering a service — dog walking, tutoring, personalised songs, car washing, lawn mowing — a well-designed flyer is one of the most effective ways to get customers. It can be printed and posted through letterboxes, pinned up at school or your local shop, or shared digitally.

The goal of a service flyer is different from a fundraising poster. Instead of asking for a donation, you are selling something. That means the design needs to answer: What do you do? How much does it cost? How do I contact you?

Step-by-step: create your service flyer

In Canva, search for "flyer" and choose an A5 or A6 size (half or quarter of A4 — cheaper to print)

Add a clear headline: what you do. E.g. "Dog Walking — £8 per walk" or "Personalised Birthday Songs — £10"

Add a relevant image — a dog for dog walking, a music note for songs, a book for tutoring

Add 2–3 bullet points about what you offer — keep them short and specific

Add your contact details — WhatsApp number, email, or Instagram handle

Add a small note: "All proceeds go towards my [expedition name] fundraising" — this makes people more likely to use your service
