Step 1: Collect the details
Before you can create a personalised song, you need information from the person ordering it. Here is what to ask:
1.The person's name โ first name is fine, or first and last if they want it included
2.Their age โ especially for milestone birthdays (16th, 18th, 21st)
3.2โ3 things about them โ hobbies, interests, personality traits, something funny about them
4.The style of song โ happy and upbeat, emotional and heartfelt, funny and light-hearted
5.Their favourite type of music โ pop, rock, country, R&B etc. (optional but helpful)

Step 2: Write the lyrics
Using the details you have collected, write a verse and a chorus. Use the structure from Lesson 4: [Verse] then [Chorus]. Keep each line to about 8โ12 syllables.
Here is a worked example. The customer has ordered a song for their friend Jake, who is turning 17, loves skateboarding and gaming, and wants something upbeat and fun:
[Verse]
Jake you are seventeen and living your best life
On your board in the park from morning to night
Controller in hand when the skating is done
Nobody else has as much of your fun
[Chorus]
Happy birthday Jake, you are one of a kind
Seventeen looks good on you, leave the rest behind
Here is to the tricks and the levels you beat
Happy birthday Jake, you cannot be beat
๐ต
Step 3: Generate the song in Suno
Now go to Suno and use the Custom Mode (look for a toggle that says "Custom" or "Lyrics"). This lets you paste in your own lyrics rather than having Suno write them.
1
Click Custom Mode on the Suno dashboard
2
Paste your lyrics into the Lyrics box
3
In the Style of Music box, describe the genre and mood: e.g. "upbeat pop, fun, acoustic guitar, male vocals"
4
Give the song a Title โ e.g. "Happy Birthday Jake"
5
Click Create and wait about 30 seconds. Suno will generate two versions โ listen to both and choose the best one.
๐ค
Step 4: Download and deliver
Once you have a version you are happy with, download it as an MP3 file. You will find a download button (usually three dots or a download icon) next to the track.
Send the MP3 file to your customer. You can do this via:
๐ฑ WhatsApp โ send as a file attachment
๐ง Email โ attach the MP3
โ๏ธ Google Drive โ share a link
๐ฒ AirDrop โ if both on Apple devices
๐ก
Always deliver before you ask for payment โ especially when starting out. Send the song, let them listen, then ask for the ยฃ10. This builds trust and means you will get positive word-of-mouth recommendations.
