This lesson takes about ten minutes. By the end of it, you will have a live easyfundraising account โ set up correctly, with the right name, ready to start raising money.
Most people just click "sign up" and fill in whatever comes to mind. That is a mistake. The name you give your fundraising cause is more important than it looks โ and you need to get it right before you create the account.
Here is why: easyfundraising works with expedition companies, Scout groups, and travel organisations. When you include your company or group name in your cause title, it means the right support team can find you, connect with you, and make sure your fundraising is properly linked to your trip.
If you just call your cause "Alex's Trip Fund" โ nobody knows which company you are travelling with, and you miss out on that extra layer of support.
โ๏ธ
The naming convention โ follow this exactly
Your cause title should follow this format:
Format
[Company/Group] - [Destination & Year] - [Your Name Initial]
Company or group name
Destination + year
Your first name + surname initial
Here are some real examples of how this looks:
โ
World Challenge - Borneo 2028 - Alex B
โ
Scouts Trip - KISC 2027 - Tom S
โ
Raleigh International - Tanzania 2028 - Priya M
โ
DofE Gold - Expedition 2027 - Jamie W
โ ๏ธ
Important: If you are not sure of the exact name of your expedition company or group, check your trip paperwork or ask your trip leader before setting up your account. It is much easier to get this right first time than to change it later.

What to write in each field
When you sign up, easyfundraising will ask you to fill in a few details about your cause. Here is what to put in each one:
1
Cause name: Use the naming convention above โ e.g. "World Challenge - Borneo 2028 - Alex B"
2
Cause description: Write a short paragraph about your trip and why you are fundraising. Keep it genuine โ something like: "I am a 16-year-old from [your town] raising money for a World Challenge expedition to Borneo in 2028. I will be doing conservation work and need to raise ยฃ4,000 to take part."
3
Cause category: Select "Education" or "Young People" โ whichever fits best.
4
Your details: Use your parent or guardian's email address to register, as you will need to be 18+ to manage the account independently. Your parent can help you set this up.
Fill in your cause name using the naming convention above
4
Complete the rest of the form and confirm your email
5
Come back here and click the button below when your account is live
Brilliant! Your account is live. In the next lesson, you will learn how to find your personal fundraising link โ the link you will share with everyone in your adult network so they can support you with every shop.
