โฑ 10 minutes๐ Action lesson๐ฏ Lesson 4 of 6
Go to canva.com and create a free account. The free plan includes everything you need for fundraising content.
Canva works by giving you templates โ pre-designed layouts that you customise with your own text, photos, and colours. You do not need to design anything from scratch.
๐ก
Canva AI features: The free plan includes 'Magic Write' (AI text generation) and 'Text to Image' (AI image generation). These are useful but the templates themselves are the most powerful feature for fundraising content.

Three things to create in Canva
Here are the three most useful things to create for your fundraising campaign:
1
A fundraising poster: Search for 'fundraising poster' in Canva's template library. Choose one that fits your style, replace the text with your details, and add a photo of yourself. Print it and put it up at school, in local shops, and at community centres.
2
A social media graphic: Search for 'Instagram post fundraising' or 'donation graphic'. Create a simple, eye-catching image with your fundraising total and a call to action. Post it regularly as you hit milestones.
3
A fundraising thermometer: Search for 'fundraising thermometer'. This is a visual showing how much you have raised and how far you have to go. Update it regularly and share it on social media โ people love seeing progress.

Making your content look consistent
Consistency in your visual style makes your fundraising look more professional and memorable. Here is how to achieve it in Canva:
1
Choose two or three colours: Pick colours that represent your expedition โ greens and blues for a jungle trip, oranges and reds for a desert expedition. Use these consistently across all your designs.
2
Use the same font: Canva lets you set brand fonts. Choose one bold font for headings and one clean font for body text, and stick to them.
3
Use your own photos: Replace stock photos with real photos of yourself whenever possible. Authentic images perform much better than generic stock photography.
โ๏ธ Create your first Canva graphic
Open Canva and create one piece of fundraising content โ either a poster, a social media graphic, or a fundraising thermometer. Spend no more than 20 minutes on it. Done is better than perfect.
Brilliant! You now have a piece of professional-looking fundraising content. In Lesson 5, you will use AI to plan your next fundraising event.
