Why a plan matters

The biggest reason teen fundraisers stop posting consistently is not laziness โ€” it is not knowing what to post. When you sit down to create content and have no idea what to share, it feels overwhelming and you end up posting nothing.

A simple posting plan fixes this. It takes about 20 minutes to create and saves you hours of stress over the coming months.

A simple weekly posting plan

Here is a realistic posting plan for someone fundraising over 12 months. You do not need to post every day โ€” three to four times per week is plenty:

Mon
Journey update: A quick update on how your fundraising is going โ€” what you did last week, what is coming up
Wed
Destination or cause content: An interesting fact about your destination, the work you will be doing, or the organisation you are travelling with
Fri
Behind the scenes: A photo or short video from your fundraising activities โ€” bake sale prep, letter writing, training
Sun
Story update: A quick Story with your running fundraising total and a thank-you to your supporters
๐Ÿ’ก
Batch your content: Set aside one hour per week to create all your content for that week. Film your videos, write your captions, and schedule them in advance using Instagram's built-in scheduling tool.

Your 30-day challenge

The best way to build a social media habit is to commit to a specific challenge. Here is a 30-day challenge to get you started:

Week 1
Set up and announce: Update your profile, write your announcement post, and share your fundraising links
Week 2
Tell your story: Post about why you are doing this, what the expedition involves, and what you hope to achieve
Week 3
Show your progress: Share your fundraising total, thank your donors, and post behind-the-scenes content
Week 4
Build momentum: Post a Reel, run a poll in your Stories, and make a specific, time-limited donation ask

By the end of 30 days, you will have a posting habit, a growing audience, and a much clearer sense of what content your followers respond to best.
